Rapper 22Gz Arrested On Murder Charges In NYC


22Gz has had a few run-ins with the law lately.

Police made an arrest on murder charges against 22Gz. His bond has been set at $500,000, and he was arrested upon landing at JFK on Sunday (June 12), according to the New York City Department of Corrections website. He is known as the “Brooklyn Drill rapper.”

The New York Post reports that 22GZ (real name Jeffrey Alexander) has been charged in connection with a March shooting in a Marine Park, Brooklyn, party hall, in which a 31-year-old man was shot in the left foot. The victim gave NYPD officers a description of the offender before being taken to Brookdale University Hospital.

Additionally, 22Gz was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree assault, according to the police. On Monday night (June 13), he was arraigned in Brooklyn Supreme Court; he will likely use the services of a bondsman to post bond on half of million dollars.

Throughout his life, 22Gz has had numerous brushes with the law. He is accused of killing another man while fighting over a parking spot in Miami Beach in 2017. Although he was incarcerated for a while, the charges were eventually dropped.

About a year later, he was arrested in a Brooklyn basement with a taser and a large amount of marijuana, facing charges of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana, and criminal trespassing.

NYC drill has been taking a big hit as of late with all these arrests made. We will have to see how this plays out along with the many others that have been fighting charges.
