Michael Strahan went from althete to host and now astronut.
Michael Strahan is blasting off to outer space!!! It was recently disclosed that Jeff Bezos, the creator of Amazon, gave him a phone call not long ago and offered him to join him on his Blue Origin rocket to space, which was launched by Bezos himself.
Michael claims it just took a millisecond for him to say yes… after being blown away by the experience of being on hand for a prior launch.
Here’s the thing with Bezos: he’s like one of the finest public relations people in the business, despite the fact that he doesn’t work in public relations. He’s using every trick in the book to divert attention away from Elon Musk and Richard Branson, who are both in the spotlight.
Bezos’ rocket is carrying the daughter of Alan Shepard, the first American to go into space, as well as a father-and-son team this time. And then there’s Michael, who, of course, is there.
Strahan will take to the skies on December 9th, and he has a lot of preparation to do. In his statement, he claims he will be attending training at the Blue Origin facility for about one week and a half. So far, he’s only communicated with his crewmates over Zoom.
I had no idea, but it seems that astronauts aboard the Blue Origin spacecraft get some form of compensation. Strahan will be giving his to the Boys & Girls Club of Los Angeles.
