Meek Mill Dropping New Music on August 18th

Meek Mill might be on with the sample of Big Pun’s “It’s So Hard”

Meek Mill has shared a couple of new tracks, and one of them is a rework of a Big Pun song. On Wednesday (August 3), Meek Mill turned to social media to broadcast a series of clips of him in the studio performing three new tracks, as Young Guru, who helped engineer Meek’s Grammy-winning comeback album Championships, watched on.

Meek uses a sample from Big Pun’s “It’s So Hard” in one of the videos. Meek Mill revealed he will be releasing new music in August. He said on Twitter that, following his spilt with Roc Nation management earlier this year, he aims to release 10 independent mixtapes by the autumn.

He also wrote, “New music dropping AUGUST 18 the day my dad died is when I start wylinnnnnnn again. I’m not dropping albums on Friday either!”

Expensive Pain, Meek Mill’s follow-up to Championships, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in 2021 with an estimated 93,000 total album-equivalent units generated. Meek’s sixth consecutive appearance in the top three won him this honor.

When Expensive Pain was first released, Meek accused his Atlantic Records personnel of being unsupportive throughout the project’s rollout, which sparked some controversy.
