Lil Tjay was on his way to shoot a music video with fellow rapper Ice Spice.
On January 11th, 2021, Bronx-based rapper Lil Tjay, also known as Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested on charges of gun possession. The incident occurred when police officers pulled over an Escalade that the rapper was a passenger in while on his way to a video shoot with fellow rapper Ice Spice. According to sources, guns were found in the vehicle during the stop.

Lil Tjay, who rose to fame with his hit 2018 single “Resume” and his debut album “True 2 Myself” released in 2019, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon. The rapper was shot numerous times at a shooting in Edgewater, New Jersey in June 2022, and the arrest comes a little more than six months later.
This incident has raised concerns about the presence of firearms at public events, and the importance of stricter gun control laws. Many in the hip-hop community have taken to social media to express their support for the rapper, but also to call for a fair and just legal process in this case.

The rapper has yet to make a statement regarding his arrest, but fans and followers are eagerly waiting to hear from him. In the meantime, they are showing their support and expressing hope for a positive outcome in the case.
