Lil Tjay is recovering from being shot multiple times.
There have been an arrests made in connection with the shooting of Lil Tjay, one of whom is suspected to be the shooter. There was an attempted robbery, according to the police, and the rapper was the target.
The Bergen County, New Jersey Prosecutor’s Office issued a statement on Wednesday evening (June 22) saying that Mohamed Konate, 27, had been arrested and was the main suspect in the shooting of Tjay. Three counts of attempted murder, three counts of armed robbery, and several other counts involving the illegal use of a weapon have been filed against Konate.
Edgewater, New Jersey police say that rapper Lil Tjay was shot by suspect Konate early on Wednesday morning as Konate attempted to rob Lil Tjay and two other men. Tjay and his two friends, Jeffery Valdez and Antoine Boyd, were reportedly at The Promenade, an upscale shopping center in Edgewater, N.J., when the shooting occurred. Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the New York City Police Department have arrested Konate, and his extradition to New Jersey is pending.
During the course of the investigation, police say they found and arrested both Jeffery Valdez and Antoine Boyd on charges of unlawful weapon possession. Its being sid that the two friends tried to protect Tjay and also shot at the suspect. The Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey is where Valdez and Boyd will make their initial court appearance at a time that has not yet been determined.
