Drake has been all over the place lately and now has covid.
The heartbreaking finale to Drake‘s October World Weekend has arrived. On Monday (August 1), the “Sticky” rapper resorted to Instagram Stories to say that he had “tested positive for COVID” and that the “Young Money Reunion performance is being rescheduled to the SOONEST date possible.”
The musician said in a message to his followers on Stories, “I am very heartbroken.”
This revelation comes only hours before Drake was scheduled to take the stage with Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj on the last night of October World Weekend. After apologizing for ruining their time together, the “Jimmy Cooks” rapper said, “I love you all and I am so sorry for letting you down on our weekend together and the instant I test negative I will give you everything I got on stage (except the Covid).”
Canadian music legends, American superstars Chris Brown and Lil Baby, and the unexpected entrance of Canadian superstar Nelly Furtado all performed on the first two nights of October World Weekend, which wowed Toronto audiences. The “Promiscuous” singer’s performance of “I’m Like a Bird” included Drake, who later joined her onstage.
Even so, there’s still time to put together a Young Money Reunion concert. Drake confirmed the postponement of the show by writing, “I will keep the city posted and reveal the new date soon we have it locked in.” Tonight’s Budweiser Stage lineup previously included Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj.
In honor of Drake’s OVO Fest’s tenth anniversary and in anticipation of the event’s global tour in 2023, Toronto is playing host to a three-day celebration called October World Weekend. For the rapper, this year’s spectacular weekend of concerts is the latest in a string of successes.
