Alpo Martinez reportly shot in a drive-by shooting in NYC
Alpo Martinez, the famed Harlem drug lord, was allegedly shot and died on Saturday night, early Sunday morning, according to reports (October 30). A report on the incident does not yet specify him by his given name, but the rumor on the street is that he is Alberto Geddis Martinez, who was born in Mexico City. A 55-year-old man was shot and died in a drive-by shooting on a Harlem street corner early Sunday morning according to authorities.
Just after 3:20 a.m., a shower of gunshots fired from a passing car wounded the victim many times in the chest on West 147th St. near Frederick Douglass Blvd, according to police. He was taken to Harlem Hospital by emergency personnel, but he was unable to be rescued. The identity of the man was not immediately revealed.
As reported by The New York Post, the victim of the aforementioned shooting had a last known residence in Maine at the time of the incident. According to reports, he was shot five times while driving his 2017 Dodge Ram.
Azie Faison and Rich Porter were also depicted by rapper Cam’ron in the now-cult classic film Paid In Full, which took the narrative of the two kingpins to the big screen for the first time. When Martinez returned to (or at least was sighted in) Harlem after being freed from jail and confessing to the murder of his buddy Porter, many people were taken aback.
Martinez’s company relocated to the Washington, DC region in the late 1980s and early 1990s, according to his biography. He apparently turned state’s evidence after being pinched in 1991, dropping a dime on members of his own group, including Wayne ‘Silk’ Perry, in return for a 35-year sentence rather than facing life in prison after facing life in prison.
