Alpo was portrayed by Camron in the movie “Paid In Full”
A guy has been detained on suspicion of assassinating former New York City drug kingpin Alberto “Alpo” Martinez. Martinez was shot and died on October 31, 2021, in Harlem. Shakeem Parker, 27, is charged with murder and weapons counts in the case.
Just before 3:30 a.m., the NYPD was sent to Frederick Douglass Boulevard at W. 147th St. A dark red pickup truck collided with parked vehicles. Martinez, the driver, was shot five times in the chest through the windshield of the automobile. He drove the vehicle for another four blocks before colliding with it. He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals Harlem by EMS, but it was too late.
Martinez was in the witness protection program, therefore his ID had Abraham Rodriguez’s name and a Lewiston, Maine address put on it. After being freed from a Colorado jail in 2015, he was granted a new identity. For his part in 14 killings, he had been serving a sentence of more than 20 years.
He was also widely suspected of turning on his old comrades in order to shorten what might have been a life sentence. Instead of hiding, he was often spotted around Harlem, and there were likely plenty of individuals who wanted him killed.
The highlights of the street icon turned government witness’s drug empire were reenacted in the 2002 Roc-A-Fella Films film Paid In Full, starring Cam’Ron. Martinez’s business partner and closest friend, Rich Porter, was portrayed by Mekhi Phifer, who was famously shot to death by Martinez in 1990.
