Liotta is best recognized for his performance as mobster Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s 1990 masterpiece “Goodfellas,” opposite Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. Ray fought hard for the part, and the film’s success opened so many doors in Hollywood for him that he worked virtually nonstop.
He co-starred with Kevin Costner in another legendary picture, “Field of Dreams,” the year before “Goodfellas,” in which he played Shoeless Joe Jackson. Ray went on to star in a slew of additional films, including “Cop Land,” “Corrina Corrina,” “Operation Dump Drop,” “Unforgettable,” “Wild Hogs,” “Blow,” in which he played Fred Jung, George Jung’s, Bee Movie, and many more.
